Description
50mm GRP Open Mesh Grating for Ramps and Covers
Durable and Reliable GRP Open Mesh Grating
50mm GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) open mesh grating is a highly durable and versatile solution, ideal for ramps and covers in both commercial and industrial applications. Engineered to provide superior strength, corrosion resistance, and slip resistance, GRP grating is the go-to material for environments where safety and longevity are critical.
Key Features of 50mm GRP Open Mesh Grating:
-
High Load-Bearing Capacity
The 50mm thickness of this GRP grating provides exceptional structural integrity, making it suitable for heavy-duty applications, including pedestrian ramps and vehicle covers. -
Anti-Slip Surface
Designed with an integrated anti-slip surface, GRP grating reduces the risk of accidents, even in wet or oily conditions, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. -
Corrosion and Chemical Resistance
GRP is impervious to rust and resistant to a wide range of chemicals, making it an excellent choice for outdoor installations and harsh environments such as industrial plants and marine settings. -
Lightweight and Easy to Install
Despite its robust nature, GRP is lightweight compared to traditional materials like steel or concrete. This makes it easier to handle and install, saving time and labor costs. -
Low Maintenance
Unlike metal grating, GRP requires minimal upkeep. It does not need painting or coating, offering a cost-effective, long-term solution.
Applications of 50mm GRP Open Mesh Grating for Ramps and Covers:
- Pedestrian Ramps: Ensures safe and slip-resistant access in public spaces, industrial sites, and commercial facilities.
- Equipment Covers: Protects machinery and infrastructure without compromising ventilation or drainage.
- Drainage Covers: The open mesh design allows for excellent water and debris drainage, preventing pooling or blockages.
- Walkways: Offers a sturdy and secure pathway in environments prone to moisture or chemicals.
Anti Slip Surface - tested by BS 7976 with slip potential rated 'Extremely Low', achieving only 5% reduction after 1 million footfalls. Durable 10-year guarantee for normal use environments.
Fire Resistant - meets Class B fire rating by BS EN 13501.
Lightweight - only 1/3 the weight of steel, GRP Grating is a convenient, fast, and safe installation material, reducing the risk of manual handling injuries, and can be easily cut on-site without the need for hot works permits.
Non-Conductive - GRP acts as an insulator making it ideal for application in and around HV plant and equipment. It can also be supplied with a carbon finish to provide static discharge characteristics needed in electro-static sensitive environments.

Designed to be long-lasting with a high strength-to-weight ratio. Moulded Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) grating is formed using continuous interwoven glass fibers as reinforcement material and resin as the matrix with continuous solidification through a mold system. The uniform construction provides excellent bi-directional mechanical properties.
Slip-resistant
Anti-slip gritted grating has quartz crystal bonded to the top surface ensuring an extremely durable and slip-resistant surface. This type of grating has one of the highest degrees of slip resistance measured for a walking surface.
A laboratory slipperiness assessment was undertaken by the Health & Safety Laboratory (UK) by guidelines recommended by the United Kingdom Slip Resistance Group (Issue 2,2000) and protocols outlined in BS 7976:2.
Corrosion and chemical-resistant
Corrosion is a major problem within industries such as chemical, steel, food and beverage, water and wastewater, power – the list goes on. GRP Grating is particularly designed to provide safe, long-lasting, economical, and worry-free solutions in environments where chemicals and other corrosives attack metal, wood, and similar materials.
GRP Open Mesh Grating All grating products listed have a Type O - Orthophthalic Polyester resin finish. Depending on the environment, resins such as Isophthalic polyester, or Vinylester may be used in the manufacture of our Grating.
Fire resistant
GRP Grating has been tested following the ASTM E–84 tunnel test. Depending on the resin type it achieves a Class 1 flame spread rating of between 5–25 or less.
GRP Open Mesh Grating can be used on:
Walkways, platforms, flooring, bridges, trench covers, access ramps, catwalks, loading docks, risers, pontoons, gantries, work stations, plating areas, mines, chemical environments, food processing facilities, wash bays, engineering environments, offshore facilities, dropped object protection, industrial, commercial and domestic sites.
Invest in Safety and Durability with GRP Grating
Whether for ramps, covers, or walkways, 50mm GRP open mesh grating is a practical and cost-effective solution that combines safety, durability, and aesthetics. Upgrade your infrastructure with this innovative material and enjoy peace of mind knowing you’ve chosen a superior product.
